Women's Suffrage petition, 1893

“I felt it was something to be proud of” were the exact words Kate Shepard wrote after the women’s suffrage petition was sent to parliament in 1893. The petition was over 500 hundred pages, There were over 25,000 women who signed the petition. This was extremely close to a quarter of the adult female population. The petition was asking if women could be allowed to vote. At that time, only males could choose the country's leader, alot of men didn't agree with this. They believed that all women should be in the kitchen and taking care of the children, They believed that politics should only be handled by men. In the end the suffrage petition had a huge victory. Months after the petition was viewed the government decided to make a law. That law would allow all adult women to vote, This was a world first!.

Make connections

This article reminds me of nothing. I guess it doesn't really remind me of anything. It is just an article about protests from the past and current protests. It doesn't remind me of anything.

Throughout my 12 year old life I have not seen nor been in a protest but, my mom's friend participated in a lgbt+ protest in Australia in 2017. They brought a gay pride flag there and gave it to me. :)

If there was a law where I would not be fed nor given liquid if I had no money I would feel disgusted that the government agreed on this law being a thing. If i was in that situation i would gather people up for a protest immediately.

The Water sliders did win the dispute against the law with thousands on their side.

I really couldn't think of anything to put on the sign, so up above is the most basic thing you could find on a sign, I didn't think too much about it.

N e ways thank you for stopping by and looking at my blog about protest, have a lovely day! :).
