Skittles colour experiment

 Aim:

i want to find out what happens when i put Skittles into water:

Method:

-Equipment-

  • Skittles
  • Petri Dish
  • Warm water
  • Beaker
  • White background

-Instructions-

1.Gather your equipment

2.Get exactly 8 Skittles

3.place the Skittles around the edge on the inside of the Petri Dish evenly

4.gently pour the warm water into the middle of the Petri Dish (don't flood or fill)

5.observe + record the reaction

6. taste , touch , see , feel

Prediction:

I predict that the color will drain from the Skittles and spread across the tray.

_Results_

Taste:they tasted exactly like normal Skittles.

Touch:The Skittle felt a little rough on the non colorful side, the water felt thick in a way.

See:i saw the color begin to spread eventually all meeting in the middle.

Discussion:

1.The color dissolved (dissolve is when a solid mixes into a liquid to create a solution.)

2.Then began to spread out in the water (too enlarge and defuse into a bigger area.)

3.The colors did not mix (the color did not blend into each other on there own.)

The color dissolved why?
