Discussion:

what is osmosis?

Osmosis is the movement of water from a less concentrated solution to a more concentrated solution through a partially permeable membrane.

Skittles colour experiment

 Aim:

i want to find out what happens when i put Skittles into water:

Method:

-Equipment-

  • Skittles
  • Petri Dish
  • Warm water
  • Beaker
  • White background

-Instructions-

1.Gather your equipment

2.Get exactly 8 Skittles

3.place the Skittles around the edge on the inside of the Petri Dish evenly

4.gently pour the warm water into the middle of the Petri Dish (don't flood or fill)

5.observe + record the reaction

6. taste , touch , see , feel

Prediction:

I predict that the color will drain from the Skittles and spread across the tray.

_Results_

Taste:they tasted exactly like normal Skittles.

Touch:The Skittle felt a little rough on the non colorful side, the water felt thick in a way.

See:i saw the color begin to spread eventually all meeting in the middle.

Discussion:

1.The color dissolved (dissolve is when a solid mixes into a liquid to create a solution.)

2.Then began to spread out in the water (too enlarge and defuse into a bigger area.)

3.The colors did not mix (the color did not blend into each other on there own.)

The color dissolved why?

Changing the world *vehicles* (how vehicles changed the world)

In class we have been working on three texts based on vehicles and how they changed the world here's my work! :)

Vehicles

Superbike questions/Tasks

“When it sprints past factory bikes on the race track, you can hardly believe it yourself!”

“When it zooms past factory bikes in the racing area, you can barely believe it yourself!”.

How i would feel if my own made bike won a race

Surprised and happy.

Introduction information.

1:Godly Motorcycle.

2:This story is an article on John Britten's motorcycles.

-3-

Author:*Jane Buxton*

Illustrator:*None listed*

4:This story went into extraordinary detail on what John Britten did and how he did most things. And how he felt when he achieved his ideals.

comprehension questions

1.What was the name of the first bike John Britten made at home?Britten V1000

2.How long did it take John to build a go kart?it took about a year.

What did he build them out of?he used wood and nails from old crate boxes.

3.what does John have trouble with?Reading he says he’s always had trouble with his reading.

4.what type of car did John design when he was twelve?he designed a motorised go-kart!

The steamed powered car.

-Reword sentence-

"Now that the cost of petrol has risen over the years, and the air is becoming polluted with fumes, a steam powered car could be the car of the future."

“Now that the prices for petrol have gone up through the years, and our air is becoming toxic with the fumes, a car powered by steam may be a car for the future.”

Would you buy one?

Maybe, if they were to be selling at this point i feel they'd still be not as safe as other cars.

What are the pluses and minuses of a steam powered car?

Pluses

-it doesn't damage the environment as much

-fast

-safety stuff was built in to prevent the boiler from exploding.

Minuses

-often needed to be refilled with FRESH water.

-could take hours to build up enough steam to start

Introduction Information

1-The fast steam vehicle. (brain went blank-)

2-The book is an article.

3

Author:Pat Quin

Illustrator:none listed

4-*i didn't really understand that sentence. I'm guessing I’m meant to review the article?-*

The steam powered car would be a good idea if it was to have some tweaks and better safety. Now the article itself was good. I didn't even know there was such a thing as a steam powered car. The article enlightened me in this.

How cars changed the world

Replace words

“Cars made it even easier to move around and keep in contact, but they were very expensive. Only wealthy people could afford one”.

Cars made it much easier to drive around and keep close to friends. Yet they cost a lot of money. Only rich people could buy them.

Introduction Information

1-How vehicles moved the world.

2-The story is once again a article

3

Authors:Bronwen Wall

Illustrators:Scott Pearson

4-The stories of all different experiences of cars before today are very interesting. The article itself is really good and has a nice way of describing everything and i find it quite cool that they decided to create a story and inform people about this :).

My favorite part of this work was answering the questions! :)

Thank you for looking at my blog! :)
Have a nice day!!! :>

Bethany Hamilton(AlExAnDeR hAmIlToN-)

Bethany Hamilton :)

Bethany Hamilton was a professional surfer but in 2003 she lost her Left arm to a Tiger shark when she was 13. Yet she still continues to surf and teach today. I am inspired by her commitment to this sport and how she continues to surf today after that terrible incident. In all honesty I don't know much about sports or many people who play sports but Bethany is someone who I feel people should look up too.

Bethany lost her arm in Kauai to a 14 foot tiger shark the shark was later caught not far from the area about a mile away by a fisherman family led by Ralph young. They killed the shark on site. Bethany was also surfing with her friend Alana Blanchard during that time.

Bethany lost around 60% of her blood and wasn't expected to survive yet she pushed through and surprised doctors at her recovery.

Around 26 days since the amputation she went straight back to surfing and teaching. Bethany's bitten surfboard and bathing suit can be found on display at the California surf museum in Oceanside.

I see Bethany as my hero because of her commitment and reliance towards what she loves. I find it amazing how she pushed through losing her arm and decided to continue surfing.

Class Display

 Class Display

During class about a week or two ago we made a Class Display which is a tree with different leaves which involve facts about each person in this class.

There are rabbits leaves branches the trunk and birds.

When we were choosing roles i decided i would make extra leaves with carr values on it.

It turned out really good and i'm very happy with how it looks its genuinely good and i find it nice the everyone contributed.

This was a fun project and i really enjoyed coming up with ideas for leaf designs.

Scientific Equipment

Scientific Equipment

Conical Flask

A Conical Flask is used for heating liquids during an experiment as it does not spill liquids easily. A Conical Flask is also used to store chemicals.

Measuring Cylinder.

A Measuring Cylinder is used to measure the volumes in chemicals that are going to be used for reactions.

Beaker

A Beaker is used for holding and measuring chemicals/liquids.

Thank you for reading through my work have a nice day.
